INJIRI is the colloquial pronunciation for the word "India". Founded by Chinar Farooqui in 2009, the slow fashion label has a reputation for soft, feminine hand-loomed organic fabrics that reflect traditional weaving techniques and ancestral designs from her native background.

The process centres around working closely with master weavers and their textile vocabulary, across various parts of India. INJIRI is constantly engaged in conversations with these keepers of intangible human heritage.

Inspiring and beautiful to wear, each piece is made with respect and love.

The word ‘muslin’ signifies ordinary cotton woven gauze cloth, it evokes a feeling of delicate hand-woven textiles. Muslin was manufactured in the city of Dhaka originally. The collection is inspired from the idea of lightness and delicacy of these finely handwoven textiles. The techniques used in the collection are that of jamdani and chikankari both having its origins in the Mughal era. The two crafts were patronized by Mughal rulers as their fabrics for summer wear.

This product is entirely made by hand from weaving and dyeing to the last trims and finishes; it passes through the hands of craftspeople from various parts of India, utilising traditional skills and techniques that differ from region to region. The irregularities in weaving and dyeing are a feature of hand-woven textiles.

Relaxed fit.
