At this time of the year Kandis would normally be hosting the pashmina trunk show upstairs in our studio. Given the current situation engulfing India and the devastating impact it is having on the artisans we support, my initial intention to showcase the pashmina scarf has provided me with the opportunity to give something back to a country which touches my heart.
In a small gesture, Kandis will be donating 10% of profits from each scarf sale made until the 30th June to Dakstar.
Over the past 36 years, I’ve been visiting India to do business, visit retreats, practice yoga, hang out with friends and to just be present in this amazing country. Mother India has taught me lots of valuable lessons and I’ve been fortunate to have made wonderful heart-felt connections which will be with me forever. In the last 15 years I’ve been lucky enough to spend most of my time in India working with highly-skilled textile artisans in the north of the country, most of which are small co-operatives. It is heartbreaking to see how the pandemic is affecting the people, artisans and friends of this extraordinary country.
